ISIS CHILD

Fuchsia has interviewed Freddy Mazzucco (Songwriter/Guitarist) in the French band ISIS CHILD which has just released the second album STRANGE DAYS in the end of September 2011.

 

今年9月末に2作目のアルバム STRANGE DAYS をリリースしたばかりのフランスのバンド ISIS CHILD のソングライターでもあるギタリストの Freddy Mazzucco 氏に Fuchsia がインタビューしました。

FUCHSIA:

Hi Freddy! First of all I’d like to say congratulations on your new album releasing. Is that the second album to your band? I’ve heard the album has recorded in Belgium and Sweden this time. Tell me why. Do you have any particular reasons?

Freddy さん、こんにちは！まずは、ニューアルバムのリリースおめでとうございます。 2作目のアルバムですよね。 今回のアルバムはベルギーとスウェーデンでレコーディングを行ったそうですが、何か特別な理由でもあったのでしょうか？

 

Freddy:

Thank you dear Fuchsia for the congrats! Indeed! This is the second album. The first one was in French but since I lived in the USA for 12 years I always wanted to record an album in English to reach more people. The reason why I recorded the new album in Belgium, it’s because of the great studio (Noise Factory studio) and of course all the great musicians up there and most of all the great vibes! And finally the mix in Sweden because of the great Scandinavian sound! They know about Rock and Metal sound up there!

お祝いの言葉をありがとう、Fuchsia! そう、2作目だ。 1作目はフランス語だったけど、12年間ほどアメリカに住んでいたこともあり、もっと多くの人に聴いてもらうために英語でアルバムを作りたかったんだ。 ベルギーでレコーディングしたのは、Noise Factory Studio といういいスタジオがあり、向こうには素晴らしいミュージシャンも多いし、なんと言っても気心が合うからなんだ。 それからスウェーデンでミキシングしたのは、現地では Rock や Metal のカッコいいスカンジナビアン・サウンドを心得ているからね。

 

Fuchsia:

I think that those songs are pretty harder sound than I have heard your songs so far. Which part did you most concern to make this album?

前回のアルバムよりかなりハードなサウンドになっていますが、今回はどんなところに焦点を置いて作りましたか？

 

Fuchsia:

Tell us about some episodes we don’t know during the recording the album. Did you have any happenings, troubles or funny things?

アルバムのレコーディングでのハプニングなどの話を聞かせてください。 トラブルや面白いことなどがありましたか？

 

Freddy:

We always had fun going to Belgium for the recording! First of all, the long drive, 1300 Km from the French Riviera to Belgium, just Nathalie and myself with the car fully packed with gears, driving from morning until night. We always had funny episodes! cracking jokes non-stop at lunch-time with the musicians and the engineer. We had hard time to swallow our food sometimes! as far as troubles, once I was recording a guitar solo and at the end of the solo the Marshall amp burned down at the very last guitar note. Scary and funny at the same time. Order than that, no troubles bad enough to be mentioned

ベルギーでのレコーディングは一貫して楽しかったね。 まずはフランスのリビエラからベルギーまで1,300キロの長距離ドライブ。 車に機材を満載して僕とNathalie で昼夜を問わず運転した。 面白い話は尽きないよ。 ミュージシャンやエンジニアたちとのランチタイムでは、冗談が始終飛び交っていて、時々食事がうまくのどを通らなかったよ。 トラブルって言えば、僕のギターソロをレコーディング中、しかも最終段階で、マーシャルのアンプがダウンしたことかな。 ビックリしたと同時に笑えたよ。この他のトラブルは何もなかったね。

 

Fuchsia:

What was the hardest thing ever on the recording this time?

今回のレコーディングで一番大変だったことは？

 

Freddy:

The hardest thing was the lack of time, I wish we had twice as much time to record the album because we like to try new stuff in the studio and it seems that time is running twice faster when we're having fun! Next time I'll book the studio for one year lol!

時間が足りなかったことかな。 レコーディングにこの2倍の時間がかけられたら、スタジオで新しいことにも挑戦できたんだが。 楽しい時間は2倍速く過ぎ去るようだ。 次回はスタジオを1年間予約するぞ！（笑）

 

Fuchsia:

Tell us more about the new album. In your new album, there are all songs in English. Why is that? Is it easy to make to you? Who wrote songs and lyrics? You did all?

アルバムについてもう少し伺いしたいんですが。 今回のアルバムはすべて英語で歌ってますよね。 英語の方が作りやすいですか？ 曲作りは全部 Freddy さんがやっているのですか？

 

Freddy:

As I said before, The French album was OK but Nathalie and I were a bit frustrated because we're both into heavy rock and the first album was a bit "people pleasing" too soft for us lol! When I grab my guitar and write a song, the lyrics comes naturally in English so yes, It's easier for me to write in English and honestly, It sounds much better than French for rock songs anyway. I do compose all the songs and write all the lyrics as well, I just love it!

さっきも言ったように、フランス語でのアルバムもいいけど、ヘビーなロック好きの Nathalie と僕にとってはちょっと納得いかない面もあり、1枚目は “万人受けする” ものでソフト過ぎたんだ。 ギターを手にして曲を作るときは自然に英語の歌詞が出てくるし、正直なところ僕にとってはこっちの方が楽だね。 それにフランス語よりロックサウンドにマッチする気がする。 好きなので、曲も歌詞も全部僕がやってるよ。

Fuchsia:

I am just wondering who designed the album cover artwork? That is very beautiful and tastes like very Egyptian as well as the last one.

前作同様とってもエジプトらしいステキなカバージャケットなので、どなたのデザインなのか気になるんですが。

 

Freddy:

The album cover artwork concept was my idea on both album but the great 3D design, colors and great wings and etc. It's all done by my friend and virtuoso Mike Lombard. He's such a great artist! I always liked the Egyptian Goddess ISIS! This is where the name of the band comes from.

コンセプトなどは僕のアイデアだけど、僕の友人でもある 素晴らしいアーティスト 巨匠 Mike Lombard が、3Dデザインや配色、立派な羽まですべて制作してくれた。 バンド名にも入っているエジプトの女神 ISIS が気に入っているんだ。

 

Fuchsia:

Do you have any plans for the music video from the album or the tour to out of France?

今後、このアルバムからのミュージックビデオやフランス国外でのツアーなどの予定はありますか？

 

Freddy:

Yes! We definitely have a plan for a video! We will have to wait a bit to see which song will suit better. As far as a tour, it's a little too early. We want to have some airplay and promo first then of course we're looking forward to hit the road and rock all over Europe and more!

もちろん！ 絶対にビデオは作りたいし、選曲を検討しなきゃならない。 ツアーについてはまだ時期尚早かな。 全ヨーロッパや他の地域での手応えも当然楽しみなんだけど、まずはオンエアだとかプロモ活動を優先にしていきたいと思っている。
